PEOPLE IN SPACE
Moving house is hugely stressful, a stress which the two protagonists of Paul Gallis’ improvisational short film Menschen in Räumen find themselves confronted with. Jana and Elli are close friends and now want to share a flat together. But first the bed has to be put together and the WiFi set up. Galli repeatedly draws on the iPhone camera to form the main perspective , creating an intimate, highly approachable atmosphere that is only heightened by the fact that the two of them never leave the apartment. The blue, only half-painted wall shines forth again and again instead. Jana and Elli don’t remain completely alone anyway: when a neon-green coloured caterpillar ends up joining them, questions of responsibility suddenly emerge which the film gently captures.
