FEAR

Existential fears, the fear of being different, the fear of death. Everyone is afraid of different things, and this same feeling unites us all. In his documentary Angst, Lenard Lüdemann from Wiesbaden dares to tackle a subject that represents a particular taboo for boys and young men, as emotional men are still seen as weak and unmasculine according to society’s traditional role models. Lüdemann suggests challenging this way of thinking and the shame it’s rooted in and offers a place for his friends to open up and let go. In pithy anonymous interviews, he has them give an account of their fears and how they deal with them while underlining what they say with relevant images and a winning editing approach.
