DIE LEUTE GUCKEN SCHON

The whole city seems to be crowding into the tiny kiosk today: the lottery jackpot is just too tempting. Ilyas has to deal with the customer stampede alone – and his boss isn’t satisfied with his performance. But a tour de force involving a desk with Nazi insignia and an over-sensitive wannabe rapper might calm him down – hopefully a slotmachine will be waiting at the end. In his fiction short, Jakob Müller Bouhlou draws on pointed observation and humour, illustrating a hunt that is full of curious situations and characters. At its heart however, this entertaining graduation film is a character study: the sweaty, indecisive Ilya is incapable of taking responsibility for himself. Will he of all people manage to stop the apocalyptic domino effect?
