HFG Offenbach
OFTEN MANCHMAL
The ship chugs leisurely along the river, the suburban train rattles down the tracks, cars stop and start. In often manchmal, Zuleikha Murtazaieva and Balduin Pfeffer paint a picture of a city and its people in perpetual motion. Shot on analogue film, this short creates a feeling of ease. Nothing is ever simply “one thing” here, just like the protagonist says. Everything here is beautiful, dreamlike and somehow not entirely real. At the same time, the scenes are rooted within concrete everyday life, they seek to depict what reality as. A sort of fictional documentary of the spaces we move through. Offenbach – and perhaps every city – can be just like this when you take a closer look.
